The BEST Midfield Technician

Paul Scholes is easily my favourite player while he was playing.

Born in Salford, he first trained with Manchester United at the age of 14 after being spotted by a scout. He made his full debut for United in the 1994-95 season. I could go on and on about his biography but that is available everywhere else. I idolise him because of his great vision, technicality and athleticism. He was also cited by many of his peers including Socrates, Sir Bobby Charlton, Zidane and Xavi as the best midfielder of his generation. Manchester United have missed his pinpoint passing ever since he retired. However, he was a horrible tackler, amassing over 120 bookings throughout his career.

Off the pitch, Paul Scholes shies away from media, did not like giving interviews and avoided dramas. In a rare interview, Scholes described his ideal day as "train in the morning, pick up my children from school, play with them, have tea, put them to bed and then watch a bit of TV". He also admitted that he feared playing well during the early stages of his career, due to the media attention he would receive by doing so.

All in all, Paul Scholes is a man worth idolising for his personality on and off the pitch. He also proved nothing is impossible as he became and important Manchester United player despite being asthmatic and short.
